FAI-UMI Islamic Boarding School Week Equips MABA with Scientific Values, Character and Personal Development

FAI-UMI: Pangkep – The Faculty of Islamic Religion, Indonesian Muslim University (FAI-UMI) is carrying out FAI-UMI New Student Islamic Boarding School (MABA) activities which will take place at the Darul Mukhlisin UMI Student Islamic Boarding School, Padang Lampe, Pangkep Regency (19-21 September 2026). This activity is an important part of the initial development process for new students to get to know the academic environment, institutional values ​​and student culture at FAI-UMI.

The FAI-UMI MABA Islamic Boarding School Week is designed as a coaching space that is not only oriented towards introducing college life, but is also directed at building character, spirituality, academic insight, leadership and student readiness in undergoing the educational process at college.

On the first day, new students received material provision from the leadership of the UMI Waqf Foundation and the ranks of the UMI Rectorate. This material provides an overview of institutional values, UMI's educational vision, as well as the role of students as part of the academic community who are expected to be able to develop their own potential optimally.

Entering the second day, the briefing was continued by the leadership of the Islamic Faculty of UMI which was located in the Padang Lampe Waqf Hall. The material was presented by the Dean of FAI-UMI, Deputy Deans, Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi), as well as an introduction to the management of the FAI-UMI student organization.

This series of briefings provides opportunities for new students to get to know more closely the faculty organizational structure, study programs, learning systems, student services, as well as various platforms for developing student interests, talents, leadership and creativity.

One of the important messages was conveyed by the Deputy Dean III of FAI-UMI for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation, Dr. Rani. In his briefing, Dr. Rani invited new students to interpret campus life as a long process of discovering and forming their identity.

"Being a student is a process of discovering and forming yourself. Don't just be a student who is active in studying, but be a student who develops to find your identity."

According to him, students need to realize that every potential they have requires a coaching process so that it can develop into competencies that provide benefits for themselves and the environment.

"The potential that is developed will become an impactful competency. Don't just look for people who praise us, look for people who help us develop," he said.

Dr. Surani also emphasized that student life is not solely related to competition to be the best, but is further a process of continuing to grow, learn and make real contributions.

“Competition is not just about winning, but about growing and having an impact.”

This message is an important reflection for new students not to use academic achievement as the only measure of success while studying at university. Students are expected to be able to develop academic abilities as well as character, integrity, leadership, social awareness and collaboration skills.

At the end of the material, the Dean of FAI, Dr. Akhmad Syahid delivered a message that became a spirit for all new FAI-UMI students:

"You come to campus not only to get a diploma, but to shape yourself into a person with knowledge, character and usefulness."

The FAI-UMI MABA Islamic Boarding School Week is expected to be the starting point for new students' academic journey in building a scientific foundation and character. Through integrated development between Islamic, academic, organizational and social life values, FAI-UMI students are expected to grow into a generation that has scientific competence, morals, leadership, and is able to make positive contributions to society.

This activity also strengthens FAI-UMI's commitment to presenting an educational process that not only produces graduates who have academic competence, but also forms people with character, integrity and social usefulness.
