Graduation Friendly Night for period 1 of 2026 FAI UMI
Makassar, fai.umi.ac.id — The Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) of the Indonesian Muslim University held a Friendly Evening for the 2026 Period I Graduation on Friday, 17 April 2026, at the Ballroom of the MaxOne Hotel Makassar. This activity took place solemnly as a momentum for friendship and expression of gratitude before the graduation procession.
A total of 130 prospective graduates took part, consisting of 52 prospective graduates and 78 prospective graduates. Present at the activity were UMI Chancellor Hambali Thalib, Deputy Chancellor IV Dr. KH. Ishak Shamad, MA, the leadership of the UMI Waqf Foundation, faculty leaders, lecturers and education staff, representatives of the FAI Alumni Association, as well as parents/guardians of prospective graduates.
In his speech, the Dean of FAI UMI, Dr, H. Akhmad Syahid, M.Pd. said that FAI currently has six undergraduate (S1) study programs and is preparing to receive a Decree on the opening of the Islamic Religious Teacher Education Professional Study Program (PPG PAI). This program is designed as further education for PAI undergraduate graduates to obtain a professional educator certificate.
"The opening of the PAI PPG Study Program is a strategic step in improving the quality of graduates while also responding to the need for professional teaching staff in the field of Islamic religious education," he said.
Apart from that, FAI will also open a Past Learning Recognition Program (RPL) which provides opportunities for the community, especially Madrasah Aliyah graduates who have work experience and competency certificates, to continue their education to undergraduate level through recognition of previous learning achievements.
The Dean of FAI also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with various partners. A number of study programs at FAI have established strategic partnerships, including the Sharia Economic Law Study Program with sharia financial institutions, Family Law with Religious Courts, as well as tarbiyah programs with various madrasas.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UMI, Hambali Talib, expressed his appreciation for FAI's achievements as the oldest faculty at UMI which continues to show innovation and development. He emphasized that the opening of the PAI PPG Study Program was an important achievement that placed FAI as one of the pioneers in Indonesia.
"This is the result of collective work and continued leadership at the FAI. In the future, we hope that the FAI will continue to be at the forefront in developing Islamic science that is adaptive to the needs of society," he said.
The Chancellor also said that UMI has currently collaborated with various partners, including the sharia banking sector, which also provides support in the form of scholarship programs for students.
Ending his speech, the Chancellor advised the prospective graduates to always be proud to be FAI UMI alumni and maintain the spirit of science and integrity. He emphasized that FAI has the advantage of combining the concepts of amaliah science, scientific charity, and akhlakul karimah, so that graduates are expected to be able to make real contributions in answering contemporary religious problems in society.
This friendly evening is not only a gathering place, but also emphasizes FAI UMI's commitment to producing graduates who are superior, Islamic and highly competitive.
